Our Groups
Stoney Stanton Yarn Bombers
We started off a long time ago when lots of the villagers got together to make Yarn Bombing for the village. Our group brings a diverse group of people of all ages and abilities together. Not only is the group good for the mental health of its members and the people enjoying walks around the village viewing the work, it also brings the village to the attention of everyone passing through by car seeing the bright colours and amazing feats of work that have bought our village together. We provide materials and equipment for anyone who comes to us and needs help. We all enjoy the crafting side of our group, the friendships formed but mostly the villagers smiles when they walk round our creations or bring their children/grandchildren to see everything that we have made. It’s all worth it when we step back and see our joint projects that we are then able to share with our village.

1st Stoney Stanton Brownies
Brownies is for all girls aged 7 -10 years. We meet on a Tuesday evening 5.30pm-7pm. Brownies is about getting together once a week to work towards badges, learn new skills, play games and meet new friends. In our regular meetings we make crafts, play games, do cooking, learn about our community and explore new ideas. Brownies is also about new challenges and experiencing new things through day trips, sleepovers and special events.
We take part in the carnival every year and have great fun decorating the float and being part of the procession. The grant money received from the Carnival helps us to buy new equipment and resources. One year we used the money to buy outdoor games including a parachute and have great fun outdoors.

CCG has a long history of supporting, and being supported by, Stoney Stanton Carnival. Over the years, generous donations from the proceeds of the Carnival have enabled us to buy larger, more expensive pieces of play equipment for our little ones, such as activity mats and soft play shapes. We have also used donations to purchase dressing up costimes, a toddler workbench and a replacement junior activity gym (slide cube).

Stoney Stanton Good Neighbour Scheme
The Good Neighbour Scheme was launched in July 2018 to help residents of Stoney Stanton with various forms of assistance, ie transport to hospital/physio/GP appointments, shopping, collecting medication, befriending (face to face and by telephone), pet walking, IT help, gardening etc and since we launched the scheme we have carried out 100's of jobs for our residents. During lockdowns in 2020 we were extremely busy for those self isolating/shielding and we continue to be busy with a regular group of residents who rely on our services, mainly transport and befriending. We have a fabulous team of volunteers, all DBS checked and insured who are ready and willing to help fellow residents.

Stoney Stanton Community Library
Located in St Michael's Court, close to St Michael's Church, Stoney Stanton Community Library aims to bring the love of books to villagers of all ages - and we can't wait to welcome you through our doors.
Run entirely by volunteers for the last seven years, as a library, we want to remain accessible to all, while providing a service which reflects our wonderful community and promotes literacy to all ages.
The library offers all the facilities of a council run library (including being linked to Leicestershire Libraries Computer System), unfortunately the library is no longer funded by Leicestershire County Council, instead funding comes from fundraising in the community, your wonderful donations and through applying for grants.
Manorfield PTFA
Manorfield PTFA is a small group of volunteers who meet once a month and organise activities and fundraising events to support the education and wellbeing of the children of Manorfield.
The most recent event has been the 'month and a bit' long Manorfield Literary Festival which has included a read-a-thon and book swap. We also organise the now annual Scarecrow Festival as well as the very well received Krisy Kreme Doughnut sales. With the money we receive from the carnival, and the funds raised by ourselves, we have been able to add to the children’s school experience by running school discos, providing treats for their Christmas parties at school and donating the funds to purchase a large quantity of books for the children to read within school and at home.
Looking forward, we have provided the funds for school to run an event to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
